Why would she ask for zip code?

And if she was in africa, Why would she post it in MN? (The post was from yesterday!) What should i do?Can they scam me by adopting a cat?
You can't be serious. This is SUCH an old scam. WAKE UP, little girl.

If you think the average $100 to adopt from a shelter is "so expensive" then you have NO business being a pet owner. Kittens and cats adopted from shelters come already altered, up to date on shots, deflead, dewormed, tested for disease and microchipped. Get a free kitten or one for a few bucks and you'll end up spending THREE HUNDRED TO FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS to do all those things on your own!
Yes, it's a scam. They put these up frequently, always for a high-value puppy or kitten. Do NOT send them money or any information about yourself. Never buy any animal you cannot see in person before purchasing/adopting.Can they scam me by adopting a cat?
No that seems way too fishy. don't do it. You are right to be unsecure about it.

Find a breeder where you can pick up the cat and see everything or adopt from a shelter :)Can they scam me by adopting a cat?
It's a scam, they are only saying its free to get people interested, and then giving you a $175 price to rip you off
This is a scam. Don't send money to anyone.

Go to your local shelter and adopt a nice kitty that would otherwise be killed.
honey...... do not ... just please dont, thats just too much..

there are cats you can adopt that need love and a home ):
4.5 ponds at 9 weeks? and there is no way that they could overnight a kitten from africa and be legal. forget it and keep on looking
Of course it's a scam - google Cameroon pet scam, this has been around more than 10 years. There are NO kittens - just pictures of kittens stolen off some other site

1 - It's impossible for an individual to import animals from Africa. If you tried that animal would be immediatley be put to sleep. Only licensed animal importers with quarantine facilities can import animals from abroad because of all the diseases found in Africa that are not found in domestic pets

2 - It costs MINIMUM $2000 to ship an animal from overseas

3- You cannot ship any animal overseas that is less than 6 months old

4 - There is NO such thing as next day delivery from Africa, you are looking at minimum 3 days

5 - You can adopt a kitten from a shelter for under $100, why would you give $175 to some African scammer for a cat that doesn't exist

6 - You are correct - any time they post in one city then when you contact them they say they are elsewhere, it is ALWAYS a scam

7 - If they couldn't keep the kitten there are plenty of local homes they could find. NO responsible pet owner would ship a 9 week old kitten - there is a 75% chance it would die in transit

Report this ASAP to the site where it was posted to get the ad removed
SCAM!!!!

It's obvious the guy can't even speak/write english... and WHY would you want a cat from Africa when you can get one right here in the States?

Just use Petfinder.org -- you can search by animal (cat), breed (ragdoll), age, sex, and zip code (yours) so the animals are local and you can visit them!

Good luck!
Yep it's a scam. You'll be asked to wire the money then they will "ship" the kitten to you. But you'll be waiting until you've grown every type of gray hair because there is NO kitten.

Look at it another way: If it seems too good to be true... It probably is!!
This is a notorious scam. It's a ripoff, a theft, a con, a fraud, a cheat. Is that clear enough?

Do not, under any circumstances, send these people any money or give them any of your personal information.

Surely it doesn't cost much more than $175 to adopt a cat from a shelter?

Also, bear in mind that it also costs money to take care of a cat (food, shots, cat litter, vet bills). Be sure you can afford it before you get one.
This is b.s. I had a very similar response from some nut when I inquired about a yorkie puppy I was looking for, through ebay classified pets back in December. I reported them immediately. They pretended to be in my city and then sent an email saying the same crap about some "mission" and that the dog would be sent by plane if I sent the money. Don't fall for it. I have bought a lot of purebred pets over the years and I always go take a look in person first, to see what I am getting into. You need to be able to see the pet's parents and what kind of living conditions the pet is in, otherwise you could end up with a sick animal that will cost you a lot of money at the vet. (btw, I donate money to the humane society on a regular basis, I just don't care to take a chance at adopting a pet I know nothing about for the same reasons I stated). P.S. A 9wk old kitten would not weigh 4.5 lbs in the first place, female cats only weigh about 7-8lbs avg full grown, they can't even lie very good.(:P)
Don't respond to them. This kitten does not even exist! These scammers steal photos from other peoples websites and they put up adverts for kittens and puppies. They start out trying to look like they are in your area to get you to answer , then they tell some big story about a mission or job in Africa. They often claim to be religious thinking that will get people to trust them. Their whole goal is to get you to send money via a way that you wont be able to get it back ( like Moneygram). They keep telling people more and more lies to get them to send more and more money.

Do not give them ANY information about yourself.

If you want a kitten, get your parents to agree to adopt one from a shelter. That really is usually the best deal considering all the vet work they have had. (If you get a free kitten but it has not had its vaccines, has not been neutered, has worms, fleas %26amp; maybe a respiratory infection, getting all that taken care of would end up costing more than the cost of a kitten from a good shelter or rescue group.)

You might also consider an adult kitty. You dont have to get a kitten to have it bond with you. One of the sweetest, most cuddly, loving cats I've known is one we adopted at age 11.
Sounds like a scam to me. And why is somebody halfway around the world be breeding kittens? Your best bet is to go to the local animal shelter and find a sweet little kitten who needs a good home. That would sure be a lot better than worrying whether some crook is trying to steal your money.
