Can I trust this Craigslist Ad offer?

I posted an ad on craigslist offering my services of cleaning houses, and I received this email that I am unsure about. Should I trust it?

This is the first email:

"Hello,

How are you doing? I really need a cleaner who can help me in cleaning my apartment twice a week, and he or she must be above 20 years of age,I will be willing to offer you $400 weekly,i will be needing your service for two to three hours at any suitable time of yours throughout the days of the week i hope that hours is enough in cleaning a 3 bedroom with one master bedroom and two standard size rooms, with One Living room and a kitchen as well.I will like to read back from you as soon to know if you will be available and if my pay is okay for now.

Thanks...

Peter"

This is the second email after I responded to the first:

"Hello,

Thanks for your prompt response.my name is Peter Sean, and my wife's name is Elizabeth, she is 5 months pregnant and this is our first baby. We are relocating to the City from WALES,I will be coming there to work on contract basis with KOPEK CONSTRUCTION COMPANY as a Maintainace Constructing engineer. We just bought the house and i will like you to know you will be responsible for general cleaning of hallways (dusting, vacuuming and mopping), doors, windows, pick up trash in common areas, sweeping at building entrances, and changing light bulbs etc. Also you will be working for 2hrs in a day ,so you will be earning a total sum of $400 per Week. In order for you to know we are very serious about this,we shall be sending you an upfront payment for the first month via a bank official check issued by my financier and will be mail to you via UPS next day delivery. The house is a 3 Bedroom 2 bath Duplex unfurnished, so i have made an arrangement with a painter to paint the interior part of the house.

My financier will effect the payment as soon as i give him the instructions to do so..The payment you will be receiving will be for your first week pay in advance as am sure you will work really good for the pay and by the time i get to see how effective you are, i might increase your pay,i guess that depends on you. The keys of the house is already with the painter and you will be duly informed on arrangements made to get inside the house by the painter when all arrangement are set. I believe that both of you can work together to make the house as clean as possible and also the painter will set up a date and time for your meeting.

Get back to me with the information below if you are really serious about the job, so that my financier will issue out the payment asap:

What do you think? It seems to be an awful lot of money for what is being asked and I don't know if I should trust it, and the phone number is out of the country and I cannot call it from my phone. Can I trust this Craigslist Ad offer?
Total scam.

You will be sent a fake check, begged to deposit it immediately and then asked to "refund" some or all of the money. Your money is real, theirs isn't and yes, the bank will ask you to pay back 100% of the money.

Given the wording of the scam mail, you will be asked to "pay" the painter for them.

Note the use of UPS to try to avoid federal mail laws.
I got the same email - and another very similar from a different "person". I guess there are bad people in the world....too bad.

Craigslist is full of scams and to offer that amount of money screams scam. Also, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually isn't a good thing.

The check will be a fake. You will get scammed. Danger. Danger. Danger.
