Sounds like a great idea to me, and yes as a technician myself, I would list myself on such a site. You will need sub catagories in your listings though (i.e. Hardware, software, Networking, Database, etc.). The market is changing rapidly, and the needs of home users and small businesses are changing with it.

UPS is NOT in the letter sending/verification business. They are in the package shipping business. As such the shipper PAYS the freight on the package unless the receipiant has an EXISTING account with UPS.
The ONLY notice you will receive from UPS is a "We missed you" note and anotice to reship on a certain date and/or a telephone number to have you call for delivery/pickup instructions.
Using your tracking information, ALL that has actually occured is that UPS has been notifiey (by virture of the shipper creating a shipping ticket to UPS) to EXPECT a package to be delivered to their receiving facility. NOTHING MORE. The TV is STILL in the control of the original shipper.
Apparently, you made an agreement to pay the freight (this is proper) on this item and she wants the money upfront to pay the UPS people.
Did you PAY Amy for the TV already? If so, why not remit the shipping fees too? It seems as though the TV will stay in the hands of AMY but rest assured, UPS does NOT have the tv at this time.

If it is a scam, they are on the money. The weight of the package listed is 70.7lbs, and the TV itself has a net weight of 66.7 lbs. To be safe, I wouldnt do it unless you can actually pick it up yourself from the person. It is 100% a scam. A package in "custody"? Broken english is the first sign to look for. Another is when they address you by "sir". Check the header for IP and see where the emails are coming from, and make sure you never send any money out of your own country.

I am trying to figure out how to tax people who buy furniture from me online. Washington State uses the destination of the product to determine sales tax. Will I still get my letter even with the wrong zip code on it?
Some one sent me a check for work that I did but put the wrong zip code on it. I still live in the same county and the zip is wrong only by the last 2 digits reversed. The city is right on there. Also, I am the only person with my first and last name in this state. (100% sure with the unique spelling of my last name. ) Do you think I will get my letter even if it's delayed? How can I find the direction in the sky where the moon is rising each night?
My daughter has been trying to do her science fair project and the sky has not been cooperating lately. I don't know if I am searching it wrong or what I am doing wrong but I can find almanacs to give me time of moon rises but we need the direction (NE, SE, E, where ever it may have been) in relation to our location by zip code or city. I don't know if anyone actually has a website with this information but any information on someone or someplace that can help her would be great! Now that the weather has cleared and she can start she will still need the information going back a week to get the full 2 weeks she is looking for to do her project correctly. And by the way, the moon does not rise due east, or where the sun rises. For March in Jacksonville Florida, it can rise as much as +/- 32 degrees from due east, and as much as 39 degrees away from where the sun rises.

1) I Ordered something Online from sears
2)Sears sends me an email that there's a problem and gives me a number to call them, wich I do.
3)When I call them, the customer Service lady says: "We tried to send your order by U.P.S. but U.P.S. said the ZIP code you gave doesn't belong to the city you live in".

That may not be true, and runs counter to most people's expecation that cities will be listed alphabetically. For example there are something like 55 "Springfield" cities/towns in the US. I would think that it would be best to show the cities in alphabetic order by state abbreviation, than by number of zip codes.

Generally, UPS goes by ZIP code for state and city, and then narrows it down by street address - you can send mail without a state, and it will arrive at the destination if you provide a ZIP code; hopefully your package will arrive.

Who owns the zip codes in the states, the postal service or the federal government?
Rural areas are having a very difficult time with zip codes. It seems that there is a catch 22 with zip codes. My state rep told me that the federal government owns the zip codes, but the postal service which is no longer a part of the federal government, although it is regualted by the federal government, has the discresion of of assigning zip codes for mailing routes. This is a problem because in many cases a town has a zip code and a post office, but by the "discrestion" of the postal service those zip codes can be ignored and mail delivery can be assigned to another zip code. Case and point, in Wrightsville, AR the Zip code is 72183. This is an incorporated city. However the physical addresses are Little Rock 72206. Also in Woodson AR, the zip is 72180 but for home delivery the address stays the same, but the city and zip changes to Hensley, AR 72065. These are not automatically entered into a data base. Even those living in Hensley that have PO Boxes addresses won't validate, for expample for online ordering or services. But, these are 911 addresses. Even those living in Hensley their address basically is not recognized because they have not been "activated". This is like living in the twilight zone. We receive packages in these areas from courriers. But, in some data bases they will not validate.
This is causing real problems. Now our tax bills for Woodson lists us in Hensley and also on our utility bills our physical address is Hensley, but yet they are not recognized for services such as phone service and other services.
Does anyone have any information on how this can be resolved. We are in danger of losing our post offices and zip codes which means we lose our identity. We are tying to stop this but we don't know who to contact. We have contacted our state and US representatives but have not made any process.
Any direction would be greatly appreciated. We feel like this is an attempt to elimimate our communities and ultimately move us to another county. Most of the mail is delivered in another county that has nothing to do with the town.
Please send any information on what process to take to resolve this. These communities have been in existance for over 100 years and we don't wan to disappear.

I love it! However I've read reviews and people generally don't seem pleased with their products or service.
I even sent them an email telling them I couldn't find a store near me (their store locator is a pretty shabby tool because you can only search by city or zip code). Meaning if I can't find a store near my city, I just have to guess different cities and states until a store is found. It's awful. Whatever happened to a simple list?! Their response to my email was something straight off the website (which didn't even answer my question) saying, "We currently do not offer online shopping, but you can print out your shopping list and take it to a store near you!"

This info is provided by a company called Onboard Informatics. Do you know what type of programming language, software, and/or content management system they are using to create something like this?

On August 17, 2011 Zillow Real Estate Research published an article on the historic ratios between housing prices and incomes. I would like to determine the ratio for the area that I live in but I can only find data for the entire city or by zip code. There are a lot of discrepancies in the zip code system (zip codes that exist in more than one city or even more than one county). I also know for a fact there are many locations in the Los Angeles area that are recognized by the post office by more than one city name.

This is a simple comma delimited text format. You need to read the data into an array of structs in which the data will reside during the runtime of the program. You can, in C++ design a class for this, and in this class you may create a function that will accept a stream as an argument and then read a line from the file and parse it into the struct, returning a zero if the eof has been reached. Another function may be created in the class which accepts a code as an argument and then iterates through the list of structs to find the proper corresponding zip code. Does your zip file contains the city names or only zip codes? If the user inputs the zip code then the file must contain the city names.

You're talking about U.S. Zip codes, I suppose, which all have five digits. So you can declare an array of std::string with 100000 elements. You can initialize it with empty strings. Then go through the file and assign the appropriate array elements upon parsing each line. Then all relevant data will be in your array.
Edit: Regarding additional details: Oh okay. I'm wondering if you are allowed to modify your input file. Because if you use whitespace (for example, tab characters) instead of semicolons to separate data, then you can use fgets() along with sscanf(line, "%s %s %d", %26amp;city, %26amp;dummy, %26amp;zip); where line is the variable that holds the result of fgets().

This is a simple comma delimited text format. You need to read the data into an array of structs in which the data will reside during the runtime of the program. You can, in C++ design a class for this, and in this class you may create a function that will accept a stream as an argument and then read a line from the file and parse it into the struct, returning a zero if the eof has been reached. Another function may be created in the class which accepts a code as an argument and then iterates through the list of structs to find the proper corresponding zip code. When it does so, it can return the entire struct, which will have the city, zip, ph.no, and state included.I'd like to write a programm in C++ language that matches a given ZIP Code to a City Name. I haven't a clue :(?
Does your zip file contains the city names or only zip codes? If the user inputs the zip code then the file must contain the city names.
Anyway you need to open the file in text mode and read the contents into an array and match the zipcode

You're talking about U.S. Zip codes, I suppose, which all have five digits. So you can declare an array of std::string with 100000 elements. You can initialize it with empty strings. Then go through the file and assign the appropriate array elements upon parsing each line. Then all relevant data will be in your array.
Edit: Regarding additional details: Oh okay. I'm wondering if you are allowed to modify your input file. Because if you use whitespace (for example, tab characters) instead of semicolons to separate data, then you can use fgets() along with sscanf(line, "%s %s %d", %26amp;city, %26amp;dummy, %26amp;zip); where line is the variable that holds the result of fgets().

Go to the USPS web site, type in your address and it will tell you the zip. All cities above about 20K population have multiple zips.

I'm trying to take my Reps sales, per zip code, and have it come out in map form, city, state, country so I can get a visual snap shot of what each rep is doing. The easiest thing to do is convert the single column into three separate ones. You can do this fairly easily using the Text to Columns feature:
1 - Select column B
2 - From the menu choose Data -%26gt; Text to Columns
3 - On the first page of the dialog choose Delimited and then click Next.
4 - Tick the box next to Comma (and uncheck Tab) and click Next.
5 - Click Finish
You should now have Home Number and Street in column B, Town/City in column C and Zip code in column D. You can now sort the entire table by column D.

There is a slim chance you would receive it and if you did the item could be delayed by a week or so. I know people who work for the post office and they treat packages like this as christmas presents. They can end up anywhere.You need to contact the company you orderd from and let them know. At least if you do not receive the item they MIGHT replace it at no cost since it should get returned back to them. good luck.

I just want to caution you, though, of thinking only in terms of tasks the computer needs to do %26amp; programming that way. Read tutorials on object oriented programming so you account for all needed parts in your design. It saves a lot of redoing later. Think about programming more like rewiring a house, not just painting the walls. There`s a lot underneath.
