Remember only 1 out of 57 internet job offerings are legitmate, the rest are scams.

First clue. They ask for the sex fo the applicant. A clear cut violation of EEOC laws. An employer can ask about your sex only if it is relevant to the necessitities fo the job. In other words, someone of the opposite sex couldn't do the job. No legitmate company would set itself up for an EEOC law suit with this question.

Second clue, they want you to process the payments to employees by check. Sounds like they want you to deposit an instrument and then write someone else a check on it. Old Scam. You send out the money, and then the bank sends back the checks you deposited as no good, and you have to pay the bank back.

An legitmate company will use a CPA or book keeping company to write and track employee salary, because of deductions and with holdings required to be sent to the government.

It has other things screaming "SCAM" if you analyze it.
noLet me know if this is a legit job?
400 bucks a week with hardly anything to do?

HA! Scam.Let me know if this is a legit job?
Dont trust it. They wouldnt ask for this over the internet. not legit
Definitely sounds like bullshit to me. If its too good to be true, it usually is. If you want to, check it out. Put it this way though, if you end up working for them and making a sale... make sure you get the merchandise before you send them any money.
Sounds like it's a borderline pyramid scheme type of thing. It never hurts to call, but when a job listing is devoted more to convincing you to apply then informing you of responsibilities, it's a red flag. They sound a bit like you are interviewing them, rather than the other way around. You can look up a lot of companies on the Better Business Bureau website as well.
I'm not sure how they plan to get your money but that is the plan.
For one, do not give your birth date.

Also, sounds like a scam to get your info so they steal your identity. There is such high unemployment right now, this sounds too good to be true.

Sorry, happy job hunting.
It's like your mother and grandmother told you long ago: "There is no free lunch!" And "If it sounds too good to be true, chances are that it isn't true!"

I've gotten involved with one or two of these kinds of firms since I was laid-off; and they haven't panned out!
cool!
I contacted the HR dept at NBTY, which is a large company. They said that it's a scam. I forwarded the e-mail I received from "aaron smith" and a copy of the original newspaper ad looking for a "bookkeeper" to the real NBTY HR Dept.

Just curious but i feel like this is another scam? What say you?Macdonald and Associates / mystery shopper scam?
100% scam.

There is no mystery shopper job.

The next email will be from another of the scammer's fake names and free email addresses pretending to be the "secretary/assistant/accountant" and will demand you cash a large fake check sent on a stolen UPS/FedEx billing account number and send most of the "money" via Western Union or moneygram back to the scammer posing as the "training manager" while you "keep" a small portion. When your bank realizes the check is fake and it bounces, you get the real life job of paying back the bank for the bounced check fees and all the bank's money you sent to an overseas criminal.

Western Union and moneygram do not verify anything on the form the sender fills out, not the name, not the street address, not the country, not even the gender of the receiver, it all means absolutely nothing. The clerk will not bother to check ID and will simply hand off your cash to whomever walks in the door with the MTCN# and question/answer. Neither company will tell the sender who picked up the cash, at what store location or even in what country your money walked out the door. Neither company has any kind of refund policy, money sent is money gone forever.

When you refuse to send him your cash he will send increasingly nasty and rude emails trying to convince you to go through with his scam. The scammer could also create another fake name and email address like "FBI@ gmail.com", "police_person @hotmail.com" or "investigator @yahoo.com" and send emails telling you the job is legit and you must cash the fake check and send your money to the scammer or you will face legal action. Just ignore, delete and block those email addresses. Although, reading a scammer's attempt at impersonating a law enforcement official can be extremely funny.

Now that you have responded to a scammer, you are on his 'potential sucker' list, he will try again to separate you from your cash. He will send you more emails from his other free email addresses using another of his fake names with all kinds of stories of great jobs, lottery winnings, millions in the bank and desperate, lonely, sexy singles. He will sell your email address to all his scamming buddies who will also send you dozens of fake emails all with the exact same goal, you sending them your cash via Western Union or moneygram.

Whenever suspicious or just plain curious, google everything, website addresses, names used, companies mentioned, phone numbers given, all email addresses, even sentences from the emails as you might be unpleasantly surprised at what you find already posted online. You can also post/ask here and every scam-warner-anti-fraud-busting site you can find before taking a chance and losing money to a scammer.

6 "Rules to follow" to avoid most fake jobs:

1) Job asks you to use your personal bank account and/or open a new one.

2) Job asks you to print/mail/cash a check or money order.

3) Job asks you to use Western Union or moneygram in any capacity.

4) Job asks you to accept packages and re-ship them on to anyone.

5) Job asks you to pay visas, travel fees via Western Union or moneygram.

6) Job asks you to sign up for a credit reporting or identity verification site.

Avoiding all jobs that mention any of the above listed 'red flags' and you will miss nearly all fake jobs. Only scammers ask you to do any of the above. No. Exceptions. Ever. For any reason.

If you google "fake check cashing job", "fraud Western Union scam", "money mule moneygram scam" or something similar you will find hundreds of posts from victims and near-victims of this type of scam.
They are all scams

Stay away from Craigstlist for jobs - if you are going to fall for these things

Most of the type, the scam sends you a fake check, which you deposit

They ask you to wire money backMacdonald and Associates / mystery shopper scam?
Your first clue: "We will pay you $400.00 for your first Assignment"

Mystery shoppers NEVER get paid that high an amount.Macdonald and Associates / mystery shopper scam?
scam, scam, scam.
Yes, of COURSE it's a scam. All those "mystery shopper" offers are scams.
SCAM - that is NOT at all how real mystery shopping works

1 - you always have to register through the real mystery shopping company's website

2 - real mystery shopping pays $5-8 per shop -- NEVER $400 or even $40

3 - real mystery shopping NEVER asks you to send money through Western Union or Moneygram -- even Western Union tells you this is a scam

https://wumt.westernunion.com/WUCOMWEB/s鈥?/a>

"Mystery Shopping

There are multiple ways this type of fraud can occur. For this example we will use one 鈥巓f the most common.

Fraudsters contact victims through employment websites and ask them to evaluate the 鈥嶹estern Union Money Transfer鈥幝€?service. The fraudster sends the victim a check and 鈥巌nstructs them to deposit the check and use the funds to send a money transfer. The 鈥巚ictim sends the money transfer and the fraudster picks it up and when the check 鈥巄ounces the victim is left responsible. 鈥?quot;

4 - NO real mystery shopping company will ever send you out on a job until they have issued and you have returned an I-9 and W-4 form and passed a company training

This is a money laundering scam - if you send your address and they send you a check which you deposit you will be arrested and put in jail http://consumerist.com/2009/07/victim-of鈥?/a>

Online Personal assistant... a scam?

can someone please tell me if im being scammed?! she replied to my job ad on gumtree.. my gut tells me YES lol

I am Kelly Bynes , 44yrs of age, I'm an entrepreneur and investor by profession and I have been pretty successful in a handful of ventures I get involved in, from the Angel Investment Network in Canada and United Kingdom to various welfare and community service programs. I most very often get my hands occupied, so it is imperative for me to have a worthy assistant who can monitor and keep me up to date with my activities. This position is home-based and flexible, working with me is basically about instructions and following them. *Scheduling programmes, flights and keeping me up to date with them.

*Making regular contacts and drop-offs on my behalf.

*Handling and monitoring some of my financial activities..

*Basic wage is 300 pounds a week .

I'm sure you'll understand I tend to have a very busy schedule at this point as I am presently in United States for a summit. I will be back in Three Weeks time.

I think you're the right person for this post, Please note that this position is not office based for now because of my frequent travels and tight schedules. It's a part-time, work from home basis and the flexibility means that there will be busier weeks than others. So it's a little difficult judging the exact number of hours you'll be doing per week. If you can manage your time properly, this job may even give you some extra while you do something else on the side. As I have said, I'd want us to get a head start with things as soon as possible. I do have a pile up of work and a number of unattended chores which you can immediately assist me with. I hope we can meet up with the workload eventually. Permit me to use the coming week to test your efficiency and diligence towards all this, also to work out your time schedule and fit it to mine.

I really need to find the perfect person for this job and i am confident you can take up the challenges. On the long run we should have a relatively sound working relationship between us.I'm online most of the time as I am hard of hearing so I prefer we contact each other through E-mails but if there is need for me to call, I will be glad to do that. I am glad you are willing to work with me and i promise to be a good boss. I am also glad on the commitment in working. I have been checking my files and what i would want you to do for me next week is to run some errands out to some of the orphanage home which I do every month. The funds will be in form of Cashier check, it will be sent over to you from one of my clients and i have some list to email you once you received the funds. You will make some arrangements by buying some stuff for the kids in the nearest store around you so you can mail them out. I will get you more information on that.

There is no job. There is only a scammer trying to steal your hard-earned money.

The next email will be from another of the scammer's fake names and free email addresses pretending to be the "secretary/assistant/accountant" and will demand you cash a large fake check sent on a stolen UPS/FedEx billing account number and send most of the "money" via Western Union or moneygram back to the scammer posing as the "supply company" while you "keep" a small portion. 100% SCAM.Online Personal assistant... a scam?
Of course you are!Online Personal assistant... a scam?
sounds like it
100% SCAM

First it's a scam to steal your identity by asking for all of your personal details

Then they pay you with counterfeit cheques/money orders asking you to deposit, keep a %, then wire the balance to the 'orphanage' through Western Union/Moneygram. This is called money laundering

NOBODY would hire a personal assistant they had never met and would NEVER ask a complete stranger they only know on the internet to handle any sort of financial transactions. These are criminal gangs, often run by the Russian mafia, looking for suckers to launder their criminal money for them. And guess who goes to prison for this?

Do not respond for any reason and report the post to Gumtree to get the ad removed before someone actually falls for it

Just google the odd sentence from the first paragraph "I most very often get my hands occupied, so it is imperative for me to have a worthy assistant who can monitor and keep me up to date with my activities." and see how many other times this same exact sentence has been reported in job scams

and several hundred more
SCAM, and there it was at the bottom, cashiers cheque. You must be able to see this is the usual money laundering/bank scam. She will ask for your bank details and ID and there we go. Your account will be emptied.

I think we could all see it before we finished reading it.

Delete.
You will get a cashier's check. It wil lbe fake.

By law, a bank has to clear it within a few days, but it can bounce months later.

(and it will)

They will require you to wire or send money back. (or buy something)

They may even require you to give them your checking account details.

You will be out the funds for the cashiers check, plus the money you sent to this person

Thanks for your anticipated serviceI need advice can someone please read?
100% scam.

That scammer does not have a child, is not traveling and does not care how much you charge for babysitting. The next email would say that you are hired, your price is perfect and he would like to pre-pay for a month or 2 of babysitting services. He will send you a fake check for a huge amount, you are suppose to cash the check immediately and then send someone else your cash via Western Union or moneygram for some reason. That "someone else" will just be the scammer using another of his fake names and free email addresses to pick up your cash anonymously and disappear forever.

The only "job" here is your paying back the bank for the bounced check fees and the entire amount of money you sent to the scammer. There are similar stories posted at the 2 sites listed below if you would like to read more about how this type of scam works.
It's a SCAM - a classic overpayment scam

DO NOT respond for any reason - these scams are all over the internet

NEVER provide any information like that until you have actually MET them and decide if you want to work for them or notI need advice can someone please read?
Do not beleive on that. It is aspam. They will use your information in illegal purpose like stealing your personality.I need advice can someone please read?
Unfortunately, that's a MAJOR scam... NEVER reply to anything that asks for that information at the bottom. Never know who may end up with it...
SCAM RUN LIKE HELL!!!!!!!!!!
DON'T DO IT! This is a scam, and if you go through with it he could steal your identity. Trust me on this one.
Trust your intuition and walk away from this one. The next thing you know is that he will probably want your bank account # so he can process the payment. He also doesn't seem to concerned about rates which is another red flag as all companies have their limits.
I believe this is a scam as someone else posted as similar ad (exact wording) for a babysitter in Minnesota. The person claimed to be from Australia in that one. Note! any professional person looking for some one to watch his kids while his company paid the tab would not post on Craigslist, they would go through a licensed agency.

Does this sound legit or like a scam?

Here's the details, I saw a post on Craigs list, and I sent an e-mail to do it, it was for a modeling / acting thing.. Here's the response I got (Which sounds a little off.. )

The shot will be held as soon as we both agree on when it should be held and the pictures will be used for the promotion sales. The Store will be responsible for the provision for your clothings,make-up and hairstyle that will be use for the shoot.

The location of the shoot, will be somewhere close to where you are located to avoid any traveling inconveniences on your part.As soon as we both agree, the photographer will get in touch with you to agree on the location, date and time of the shoots and he will becoming over to meet you up so that the shooting can be done in good time.

Let me know if you're ok with $400(your salary) for a day for your service and fund will be sent to you immediately on confirmation of your payment information as clearly outlined below this e-mail. After payment has been received, the photo shoot will be taken and sent to the store.

There will be a pre-arranged photographer, hairstylist and a make up artist that will becoming over to you for the shoots.

They will be contacting you for proper arrangement of time and location after payments has been made.

Guess the arrangement is understood. In order for payment to be made to you, provide me with the following details,

Name in full.........

Residential address in full...........

City...........

State...........

Zip-code............

Phone number...(cell and home).....

Age.............

Charges...$400 (a day)

Statistics for Attires....

Statistics for shoes.....

Any previous Modeling Experience.....

Thanks

________

Ok so I thought this was legit.. and as I was responding, well I hit send, and went to inbox and had another message. Now after reading this, I got thrown off a bit.. But had already sent my information...

______

Good News!!! I email to inform you that a Sponsor company has finally emerged for this project, The sponsor has great passion for fashion and they will be Launching their own model school soonest and that is why they have decided to sponsor this project.

I am putting to your notice that the payment has been made to cover both your charges(SALARY) for shooting and that of the supervisor and her crew coming over the left over of the funds will be used in the booking of the studio and also cost of transportation for the supervisor and his crew to get down to your location for shooting.

we have decided to USE THIS MEANS BECAUSE the supervisor travels around a lot for shoots and its hard for him to receive payment cause of his unstable location and that was why we have decided to add his fee to your payment so that you can send for him as soon as you have your own payment (PLEASE TAKE NOTE).

Pls We need you to confirm that You are still interested in the offer by replying to this email so we can proceed by sending you payment.

Thanks

_____

Now unless it's normal, Grammar was off, punctuation was off.. I just don't know what to expect, and why would they pay me first? $400 a day for someone with little experience? Well anyway.. If I get a check, I know to cash it out at walmart, not in the bank so he doesn't get my information.. But if they end up calling, what are some things I should look out for? Does this seem legit?Does this sound legit or like a scam?
It's a Nigeria scam, don't touch it! http://www.newmodels.com/Nigeria.html

These scams are all over Craigslist, myspace, facebook, modelmayhem, onemodelplace, etc.

1 - NO company will ever hire a model online. If you did not go for an in-person go-see and fitting, the job does not exist. Remember that one simple rule to avoid most scams. Even top models like Kate Moss still go to castings. If you've never worked for this company before, there is no way to know until they've actualy seen you that you have not lied about your height, age, measurements, etc. They have no idea if your skin is broken out this week from a picture. No way to know if you gained 5lbs in the past week because you've been out every night. No way to know your picture hasn't been completley photoshopped and looks nothing like you. No way to know you would fit into the sample clothing

2 - Models NEVER ar paid in advance of any shoot or there is no guarantee they would ever show up. You are always paid 30-60 days AFTER the shoot

3 - NO shoot for a clothing company would ever advertise on Craigslist

4 - the date, time and location of the shoot are always decided in advance, not around the model's schedule

5 - NO company would send a model money to pay for studio booking, transportation or anything else.

6 - NO real company is going to use poor grammar

DO NOT give them your home address or phone number for any reason. If you have, when the check arrives, save the original envelope and contact your closest FBI Field Office and turn it over to them. They are the agency responsible for investigating internet crimes. Keep copies of every email you've received and do not respond any further. If they call, DO NOT speak to them, hang up the phone or don't answer calls from unknown or foreign phone numbers. Print out the emails with full headers so they can hopefully track these criminals, and if the IP address shows they are from a foreign country (usually Nigeria or Russia) they will work with local law enforcement in those countries to try and track these scammers. http://www.fbi.gov/contact/fo/fo.htm
Wake up. $400 a day in 2010. it's fakeDoes this sound legit or like a scam?
Actually.... the $400 a day is not what it is that is fishy. No this is not legit at all. These are scams that occur too often on craigslist. He will basically send you a fake cashiers check that you will be able to cash but will more than likely bounce later. I did hear of a lady that was sent a cashiers check through craigslist and it didn't bounce (had something to do with the fact that she cashed it at a check cashing place). Her check was for like $1400 or something so she ended up coming out that much richer I guess lol. But the scammers want you to cash it at your bank so that yes.... they want to get your banking info. This is sometimes used to either hack into your bank account or for things such as stealing identities. I would just leave it alone if I were you and when you get whatever he has to send you; if you just wanna stay completely on the safe side; just put retur to sender on the envelope and put it right back in the mailbox. Good luck!Does this sound legit or like a scam?
Go with your gut... If it sounds off then it probably is.

If they sound vague (which they are then it's fake)

Many people are constantly scammed by these types of e-mail.

Ask for some references next time. Craigslist isn't reliable at the best of times.
you need to be careful of anything on craigs list. sounds a little off. don't ever let any of these people know where you live or let them come to your house. you never get paid up front for anything. no

one needs more than your phone no. and e-mail and your name. your salary has nothing to do

with their costs for the shoot or their supervisor and crew. this whole thing sounds a little strange.

In a few weeks my dog's litter of puppies will be ready to go to their new homes. Lately I have been hearing lots of news regarding dog fighting and the use of bait dogs. This got me thinking about the possibility of someone taking one of our pups and abusing them. My husband and I discussed having adopters sign an adoption agreement and this is what I have come up with so far. I just would like to know if there is anything else I should add or amend. Thanks

    INFORMATION ABOUT ADOPTED ANIMAL:

    M / F

    Date of Birth:

    Color/Markings:

    Other description:

    ADOPTER'S AGREEMENT

I am aware of the laws and regulations regarding Pit Bull type dogs in my home area.

I agree that the animal is being adopted for myself and will not be sold, re-homed, or given to another party.

I agree that the animal will not be allowed outdoors without proper supervision. When taking my dog outdoors, they will be under my control or securely contained as defined by the breed selective legislation in my home area.

I agree that this dog is to be a companion animal, not a guard, bait or fight dog. The dog will live inside my home, and is not to be kenneled outdoors.

I agree to care for the animal in a humane manner and be a responsible animal owner. This includes supplying adequate food, water, shelter, attention, and medical care.

I agree that if at any point I can not keep the animal, I will return him/her to ****** without the return of my adoption fee.

I agree that all statements I have made on this form are true. If it is found that any statements I have made on this form are not true the adopted dog can be confiscated. I understand and agree that ************make no guarantees about the animal's temperament and will not hold them responsible for future possible damages or injuries caused by the animal. I give them permission to call my home at any reasonable time to assure that the animal is being properly treated and cared for. I agree to keep them informed of my current home address and phone number.Help with puppy contract?
I am a trainer and the owner of a Pit Bull and that sounds really good, the only thing I would add is making sure they take a training class for socialization and much needed training as soon as they can. Best time to start is 10 weeks old for socialization purposes when they get to be around 6 months it gets harder to socialize because of their prey drive.

P.S. I would also recommend that they get them fixed by 6 months old unless you are sure they would breed responsibly.
The reality is that contract is only a promise and once that pup leaves your posession, you dont know what is going to happen. My suggestion is to not worry about the agreement contract and research your adopters better. Go out and visit their homes, ask questions you want answers to, make sure they meet your standards that way.Help with puppy contract?
It's not just BSL you have to watch out for--most townships have laws about having your dog on a leash. So it needs to say in accordance with local ordinances.

You may want to microchip these dogs before they go home.

-adopted for myself AS A COMPANION ANIMAL (PET)

-You need a spay/ neuter clause that says you can confiscate the dog, without return of adoption fee, if you have received no proof of spay/neuter at X age.

-they also need to supply TRAINING

How are you vetting these homes??Help with puppy contract?
Sounds good! I think you should include in the price (charge more so you're not losing money) that is mandatory they sign up for an obedience class so they pay you the amount of the class, then when the puppy is old enough you contact them, register them, and use the money to pay for the class and ask for proof of completion of the class (like a certificate or whatnot) which keeps the contact in-tact.

As well, you could ask to meet at the peoples homes with the pups to make sure they are clean, respectable people and see they have backyards and stuff like that, so you don't have apartment people trying to buy a pit bull and stuff.

Most puppy contracts do offer the buyer that if the puppy is diagnosed with a genetic disease confirmed by a vet that you will either refund the puppy price, or exchange the puppy. That makes many buyers feel better, so I think you should include that. Make sure you add the line "The pup is guaranteed to be healthy upon release to Buyer to the best of the Sellers knowledge."

I saw on this puppy website a very well written and detailed contract, http://www.angelfire.com/extreme/draggah鈥?/a> , obviously contact them before using it to make sure you have the rights to use it, but it can provide you with some good ideas.

Kudos to you for being proper pet sellers!

Mr Oscar RamzyWHAT R THESE PEOPLE TRYIN TO SCAM?
It's either a "check advance" scheme or an identity theft ring.
Mark it as SPAM and make sure the address is blocked. Don't worry about the email, nothing to lose any sleep over, unless you have given them your information. WHAT R THESE PEOPLE TRYIN TO SCAM?
The check will be counterfeit. You will deposit it and wire money back to the "agent". In a few weeks the check will bounce and you will lose all the money wired to them.

? ??l???q ?WHAT R THESE PEOPLE TRYIN TO SCAM?

S-C-A-M.....This is a re-shipping scam...they ship you stolen computers...you fix them and send them to a diffrent address and they pay you for fixing and sending them.....alot of people have gotten into serious trouble for taking part in this scam...it was on the NBC nightly news...........
Yes it is fake action aid is a poverty elimination charity not computer fixers. See the site yourself: http://www.actionaid.org/Is this a scammer? What do you think?
I believe its not a scam from how the email is written, if they ask u for credit card info, definetly a scamIs this a scammer? What do you think?
Get a ref from the BBB. It seems like a scam
It's definitely a reshipping scam - they sent my brother the same thing. As the post above says, they buy used computers on Ebay/Craigslist with hacked paypal accounts or counterfeit checks/money orders, send them to you to "repair" then ask you to reship to another person. You are being used to fence stolen merchandise and YOU are the one who will be arrested when the police find out the computers were sent to YOUR home. You are looking at 5-10 years in prison if you agree to this because you will get caught

Oh, and you will never get paid for fixing the computers anyway. You'll do your "job" then not get paid. When you finally contact Actionaid to ask where your money is, they tell you that there is no such person working there, they would never ask a stranger to fix computers as they have their own IT department, and that you have been scammed

There is NO remote area of Tokyo with no phone service - he is full of crap. You can be on the top of Mt Fuji and still get perfect phone signals

I'm sure if you call the real Actionaid on the number on their website they will confirm that a scammer is falsely using their name

Its a scam, there is no puppy and all of this information is fake. I've posted before, this is a Cameroon puppy scam. Do not fall for it

    "Senders information

    Full name:Lundy Millan

Address:9637 w swan rd Denver CO 83012" - how are they in Colorado when a day ago they were in Cameroon? They can't even keep their stories straight. And that address doesn't even exist, just look on google maps, no such address

Read the first line "Welcome to V3CARGO SHIPPING and RELOCATING SERVICES Denver Colorado." - a company from Colorado would not ship anything from Africa to Asia and real companies dont use free Rocketmail. And there is no company in Denver called V3 cargo - it's fake. If it was a real company they would have a website or nobody could ever use their services

No legitimate shipping company would ever accept Western Union, they take credit cards. More proof of this scam

And read the flight schedule for your puppy - that's just flight details from DENVER to Hanoi, it doesn't go anywhere near Cameroon

Nobody is ever going to ship any puppy internationally, they die in transit. Anything over 12 hours and the dog will be dead. A puppy will not survive from Thursday to Sunday and no reputable dog owner or breeder would ever agree to send a puppy overseas.

Do not send the money, at 9 weeks that animal is not even old enough to be shipped, most legitimate shippers will not take any animal under 16 weeks

If you are daft enough to send 210$ then they send you another email a day later saying it's hot and they need 200$ more for an air conditioned crate. Then another 150$ for export licensse. Then 200$ for something else until you finally wake up out of your dream world and finally figure out this is a scam like people already told you

Need more proof of this scam

google "titus jr" + bulldog and you'll find him listed on sites saying he is in New Orleans, Florida, Washington and many other sites that have deleted the listing

The phone nrs you list have already been reported as scammers

I am hoping i get some fake checks they will work and cash becaus ei need some money to you think he will really send me checks or money orders that will cash?Driver job on craigslist is this a scam?
I did not read it all.

But this is how the 50 year old nigerian scam works.

    They send you a check.

    You will deposit it.

They will request money from you - probably by wire.

The check they sent you will bounce.

You will never hear from them again.

    /
It's a money laundering scam. The checks might clear initially but then they will definitely bounce within 3 weeks and you will be investigated for bank fraud and could go to prison like this girl found out falling for fake check scams

    http://www.kirotv.com/money/16091642/det鈥?/a>

And read what Fraud Aid has to say http://www.fraudaid.com/check_liability.鈥?/a>

"BY LAW YOU ARE LEGALLY RESPONSIBLE AND FULLY LIABLE for any and all checks or money orders deposited into your bank account by you or someone else, and for any funds wired into ANY of your accounts by you or someone else.

Your are 100% liable for any and all funds deposited into any of your accounts by any means whatsoever."Driver job on craigslist is this a scam?
How can you seriously think this is a real job offer. No employer offers you a salary and offers to pay you before you have been interviewed. If it were legitimate, he would set up interviews locally in your town. You should pretend to go along with it, just to nab him in person and have the cops there. You should contact the FBI and give them the Puerto Rican address. He says he will be there on June 23rd, so make an appointment. Ask him for his U.S representative's name and contact information. You wont hear from him unless you cash the money order. Your bank won't realize the money orders are fake until several weeks later. You should tell him you want a check drawn on an American bank if his representative is in the U.S , or a U.S. postal money order and see what happens. I know this is a fake job but I want to know what happens. Does he have your social security number?Driver job on craigslist is this a scam?
    I agree with Judy.

You want some money. But if you present a dicey-looking check to your bank, one of two things will happen:

    1) they will cash it, but when it bounces they will charge your account

    2) they will cash it, but they will hold the equivalent amount in your account "until it clears"

Banks don't stay in business by cashing bad checks.

Does this email seem real and not a scam?

I got this after i posted an ad for me babysitting on the craigslist website so do you have any advice for me because i think it could be real and not some scam to hurt me but i want to make sure

(P.S. the Republic of Benin is in Africa)Does this email seem real and not a scam?
Its a common type of scam called 419 scam. I've gotten one similar.

Don't believe emails that offer to pay you or reward you somehow for doing almost nothing. That's how they trick you.

If you respond they may later ask you for a small amount of money for "fees" or something else and assure you they will pay you even more. But any money you send is gone and you won't get anything back. They will tell you anything to get you to send money, make things up, send false documents, and offer things that they won't actually do.

And they don't necessarily need your bank info to scam you.
I think, its a scam , bcuz well nobody would send that kind of mail to a stranger and because they are asking you for information, so don't reply it, because in some cases these information is used for kidnapping , assaulting and others... be carefull with your mail.Does this email seem real and not a scam?
Seems like a scam to me. Looks like it's poorly translated from another language and there are way too many irrelevant details. Seems suspicious.Does this email seem real and not a scam?
    SCAM !!!

    Too much info requested !

    Legitimate people use legitimate agencies.

Do not reply to this in any manner.
It doesn't seem anything, it SCREAMS "scam". Don't even respond to it to say no.
    Look up Nigerian scam.

    Or 419 Scams.
Usually they use Nigerian IP address without any try to hide it.

You can try to trace email sender back by taking email header and performing trace email process:

    http://www.ipaddresslocation.org/email_l鈥?/a>

    http://www.find-ip-address.org/email-sea鈥?/a>

I would not be surprise if both email tracing tool show you that email sender come from Nigeria.

    Good luck!

    Does this sound legit?

I got this response from a guy i responded to off of Craigslist for a job he was offering does this sound legit to you guys.

We are relocating to the united states to start our own partnership business . We need a reliable, honest and respectful person.

We are moving to the state by 27th 0f September and we need you to take care of the house by assisting us in doing the house chores, such as, cleaning the compound, rooms and some other things. My wife should have done this her self but i won't want to stress her up because she is pregnant and she will also be assisting me in running the business .

I am coming over for an Estate project which has been signed and approved by the United States Government and it will take me about 1 year to finish up this project . That is why i want to bring my wife with me. I am offering you $400 weekly and you will make yourself available every day to our schedule from Monday - Friday, 9am- 12.30pm each day.

Also about the payment, i want you to know that my client who is in the States will be sending you a check/Money order which will cover your fee for the first week and my wifes' accommodation expenses pending my arrival. So that is where you will need to help us take care of cleaning during the scheduled time. Get back to me with the following details of yours:

    Full Name:

    Address:

    State,City and Zip code:

    Phone #:

If you are satisfied with the offer, get back to me so that the paycheck can be forwarded to you as soon as possible.Does this sound legit?
It doesn't sound legitimate at all. I would also advise them that they will need to complete an I-9 form for you, tell them it's for tax purposes since you'll technically be a contractor. Most of the time this will scare them away.

Best of luck to you!Does this sound legit?
Nope, not legit. If you ever get an offer like this, where you are being paid by Western Union or Money order, and are to take your fee and forward the rest of the money to someone else, it's a scam. You'll get the money, the money order will turn out to be fake, and you'll be the one they come after to recover the funds.

    Is this a craigslist scam?

http://lottery.yahoo.comIs this message spam or did i really win the yahoo lottery?
This is a SCAM. Check out the below link for confirmation of various email scams hitting the internet including the famous Yahoo/MSN lottery scams and how to report them:

    http://www.consumerfraudreporting.org/lo鈥?/a>

    http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/or鈥?/a>

Unscrupulous thieves have sent you this email and they are trying to part you from your hard earned cash. They will often ask you to call a premium rate number and keep you holding on whilst you rack up a huge phone bill. They are then paid a large proportion of this phone bill. They may ask you to divulge personal information about yourself or ask for your bank or credit card details. Do not divulge any such information under any circumstances. It is surprising how many innocent victims have been duped by these types of emails. Just remember the thieves who send them are very clever and extremely convincing. I suggest you delete the email and send it into cyberspace, hopefully along with the thieving scumbags who send them.

Check out these sites for further information :

.Also If you go to the following site you will get some info on ID theft www.identity-theft.org.uk the iinternet is safe enough if you are careful but please answer nothing that you are doubtful about.Good Luck and be carefulIs this message spam or did i really win the yahoo lottery?
yes i have also had this email so its obviosly a scam i sent the details they requested but have had no furhther reply.i just hope this is the last i hear from them,i have kept the emails they sent me in case i need them for future refference. Is this message spam or did i really win the yahoo lottery?
There is none and has never been a Yahoo lottery. I constantly receive those notifications. I have won at least a billion dollars so far.

Due to the number of lottery scams no legitimate company would ever notify you by email that you have won a prize.

Every email that states you have won a lottery or there is money waiting for you is a scam. There will be a followup asking for a prepayment of some type of fee to receive the money. Haven't you noticed that even though you have won 100 million your name appears nowhere in the email? It may not even contain your email address. If people were winning 100 million every day it would be on the news with pictures of the lucky people.

Unless you enter a lottery or contest, such as with one of the magazine companies, any notification is a scam. If you get 100 million you will not be notified by email.

I'm sorry to tell you that the e-mail you received is a scam. The message sounds too good to be true because it is. There is no such thing as the Yahoo! Lottery. The same goes for MSN, Toyota, AOL, Coca-Cola, et cetera. None of these companies are giving away money to random Internet users.

Rather, scammers are collecting e-mail addresses from all over the Internet and bombarding them with these fake e-mails. If you reply to this scam e-mail, the con artist will soon ask you for money. There are many excuses for why the scammer wants money, but they're all lies.

Many scammers will tell you that you need to wire them money to cover "courier fees." When you do this, the scammer will come back soon to ask for more money. This will continue until you are either broke or wise to the scam. Either way, you have lost your money - and there will not be a lottery prize to collect at the end of this mess, either.

Some scammers will even go so far as to provide you with documents as "proof" that they are trustworthy. You might receive a scanned copy of a passport as identification. This is either fake or stolen. Seeing an ID proves nothing. And anybody with MS Paint and five minutes of free time can forge confirmation papers, lists of winners, or other such documents to convince victims that the lottery winnings are real. The scammers will try to make their cons look as genuine as possible so as to extract your money from you.

You can confirm that you've received a scam e-mail by doing one or more of these things:

    * Open the company's official Web site in a fresh browser window. Yahoo!, MSN, et cetera will not have any information on their Web sites about their lottery drawings or giveaways. This is because these companies are not really giving away money. At the most, you might find a fraud warning on these official Web sites. This is an excellent indication that you're being scammed, as companies that *are* giving away money will promote this fact all over the place.

    * Copy part of the e-mail and paste that into a search engine. Many known scam e-mails are collected and published at various anti-scam Web sites. These pages are there to help spread the word about these scams so that fewer people will fall for them. Use these free tools to your advantage: search parts of any suspicious e-mail you receive before you reply.

    * Contact your local law-enforcement department. More often than not, somebody there is familiar enough with this widespread scam to confirm that it is not real.

You should delete the scam e-mail and forget about it. Reporting the e-mail account to the provider to have the box closed might seem like a good idea, but this can ruin an active law-enforcement investigation.

You can also warn people you know about these scams. The more people we all tell, the fewer potential victims these low-life scammers will have.

http://www.scamwarners.com is an excellent Web site for more information about fake lottery scams and other, similar cons.
i recieved the same email..its not true.if u watch dateline they investigated these con artist in nigeria.they r con artist wanting money.

  • How to Trace an Internet Fraudster? I have his e-mail address, and maybe IP / house address.?

A friend of mine was the victim of online fraud. He found a guy on a wholesalers website going by the name "Mark Daniels", and spoke to him by e-mail and Mark arranged to sell my friend aload of Nintendo Wii's at wholesale price.

Anyhow my friend sent him the money (around 拢800 via western union, its the only way he wanted paying) and obviously never heard from him again.

This guy goes by the name of Mark Daniels.

    His e-mail address is: mark_danielshop@yahoo.com

In the email he told me these are his contact details:

    NAME: Mark Daniels

    Street: 22 Stirling Way

    City: Horsham

    Zip code: RH13 5RP

    Country: United Kingdom

I managed to find a phone number for this address, the owners do not know a Mark Daniels....

He sent me two e-mails and I got 2 differnt IP's from the e-mail sender, which are:

    172.130.21.212 %26amp; 172.191.150.96

From these IP's I think I linked them to this small range of addresses:

    8636-8692 NW 120th St

    Potwin, KS 67123, USA

This address also randomly came up:

    Yenimahalle, 150. Sk, 脟i臒demtepe, Turkey

Can someone please tell me what more I can do? Thanks so muchHow to Trace an Internet Fraudster? I have his e-mail address, and maybe IP / house address.?
you cant all that info is fake, the email he make i 5 secs and he most likely used a proxie to do all this so you cant trace it to him.even if you had his real ip you can only trace him with in 50miles so just drop it.as for the money it is gone but you can have him call the bank and tell them what happened to see what they can do.also call the police and ask what the can do,oh and don't call 911 find the number for the station lol.also tell your friend ha unless he knows the person that is sending hem stuff like that not to even open it.How to Trace an Internet Fraudster? I have his e-mail address, and maybe IP / house address.?
yep as the above dude said. he could be in ping pong province china for all you know.

spoofing IP addresses and mail is kids play. not to mention even if you did find an actual physical home address he could be 3 doors up soaking up their wireless network.

if its too good to be true if often is...

you could try and set him up in an email, a picture/link that needs to be downloaded..a force feed deal.

the ONLY thing you have going for you is his greed.

    Additional Details

    THIS WAS HIS FIRST E-MAIL:

    Hello!,

I am Walter Godwin, the new Regional Operating Officer with the well known non-profit:- The Action Aid International.

Thank you for responding to the Advertisement.

My Office %26amp; I have reviewed your Resume' and we would like to arrange for a phone interview to allow a more personal and mutual exploration of the venture as well as the issues of the job that need to be specifically addressed.

The Action Aid Organization distributed a number of Computer Systems to a Missionary Organization in Tokyo, Japan whose objective was to promote and hold Computer Training Courses for the Children at the Mission Organization using these Computer Systems sent to them.

We received a report that all of these systems malfunctioned and as a result they are shipping the computer systems back to us for repair even though there are more technical nerds in Japan at the moment that need work in light of the recent devastation and tsunami that the Country has encountered.

Although the shipping rates and fees are exorbitant well beyond the actual value of the affected computer systems, the decision was made to have them shipped back to the U.S. so we could find an in-source resource to repair them in lieu of the far cheaper out-sourced sources available to us, as a global organization, in India, Bangladesh, or even Taiwan.

The Action Aid Organization is looking for a technically competent and caring individual to trouble-shoot and repair these systems accordingly so that they can be processed for shipment back to the Missionary Organization In Tokyo as soon as is respectfully possible.

Would you be available for this type of contact work and job?.

Please note that although the Action Aid Organization is a NON-PROFIT, the position is not and you will receive remuneration accordingly as the work is performed and completed.

Please take a moment to review the job details and if any questions or concerns arise OR if a need for additional clarifications is in order, please do not hesitate to contact us directly.

    Sincerely and respectfully,

    Regional Operating Officer.

    Walter Godwin

    Action Aid International.

www.actionaid.orgcouIs this a scam?? What do u think?
    100% scam.

There is no job. That scammer does NOT work for that company, he just stole that website address to send to potential victims and pretend to work for

The next email will be from another of the scammer's fake names and free email addresses pretending to be the "secretary/assistant/accountant" and will demand you cash a large fake check sent on a stolen UPS/FedEx billing account number and send most of the "money" via Western Union or moneygram back to the scammer posing as the "computer shipping company" while you "keep" a small portion.

Although they haven't "set the hook" yet, this makes no sense for them to do, and has a strong smell of a scam. There's no way this makes any sense.

    I'd decline.Is this a scam?? What do u think?
Too long to read it all....Craig's list is full of shams. Anyone that would hire someone sight unseen leaves room for doubt. Shipping computers to you to fix and you pay to set them up and ship them back is as far as I got. I would want something up front to do anything. The letter doesn't make good sense...Is this a scam?? What do u think?
It was a scam the first time you posted it. It's still a scam.

What large multinational corporation would purchase new laptops with floppy drives?
Complete scam. The poor English is a dead giveaway. So is the "I'm in a remote location."

If you want a job with Action Aid (which is a real, legitimate organization) apply through their website.
If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is
It sounds very suspicious. How do you know if you'll really get paid? You might spend your money to fix these machines, and then not get reimbursed.

Does anyone know if this is a scam?? Because it sounds to good to be true. ?
I am 100% positive that this is a scam!!
Any time a person asks you to cash a check for more than the amount and send balance back it is a scam.Dont fall for it.If it sounds to good to be true it isDoes anyone know if this is a scam?? Because it sounds to good to be true. ?
Yes, it's a scam. When you receive email and you don't know the person who sent it, ( delete ) It . Do not open it,most contain viruses.Always remember, If it sounds to good to be true, it is.Does anyone know if this is a scam?? Because it sounds to good to be true. ?
That's nothing but an outright scam by the looks of things. Don't fall for the phishers' dirty tricks. Just spam the message straight into oblivion right away.
    SCAM ALERT!

These things just want your contact information so that they can sell it to third party spammers.
    Of course it's a scam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Big time Phishing scam.
That's the key....if it sounds to good to be true it probably is...
I've never seen that exact one, but lots of them like it. Its a scam, dont even think about it!
Don't fall for it. The check is bogus.
That is totally a scam. Think about it, why would someone trust somebody that they don't know, who could be anywhere in the states and provide absolutely horrible services to pick up a check worth $2700 and only keep $500 for their services. It doesn't take long to cash U.S. checks in London, that is just a lie.
