1) what the hell is a shipping agent? lol weird

2) certified cheque don't need to be cleared. That's the whole point of a certified cheque- that the money is guaranteed to be there by the bank.

3) only send her the merchandise if you have recieved the cheque first. Make sure the cheque isn't fake...meaning, bring it to the bank before you send the merchandise.
Definitely! You'd be best to sell it to someone else. Why take any chances?

There are fake certified checks that look so real they fool the experts - until they don't really clear the bank after all, even if the bank has already given you the money.

Check the link below for some more facts on certified check scams, especially # 3:

"The fact that a certified check looks official, that your bank accepts it and makes the funds available to you is no guarantee that it's valid until it actually clears."Does this response to a craigslist ad sound fishy?
It sounds very fishy to me, but I am only 14.

I would take head to Craig List's warning about dealing locally in order to avoid scams.Does this response to a craigslist ad sound fishy?

What Amy said!!
IT IS FISHY- AND IT IS CALLED SCAMMERS!!!

DEAL LOCALLY WITH FOLKS YOU CAN MEET IN PERSON - follow this one simple rule and you will avoid 99% of the scam attempts on craigslist.

NEVER WIRE FUNDS VIA WESTERN UNION, MONEYGRAM or any other wire service - anyone who asks you to do so is a scammer.

FAKE CASHIER CHECKS %26amp; MONEY ORDERS ARE COMMON, and BANKS WILL CASH THEM AND THEN HOLD YOU RESPONSIBLE when the fake is discovered weeks later.

CRAIGSLIST IS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY TRANSACTION, and does not handle payments, guarantee transactions, provide escrow services, or offer "buyer protection" or "seller certification"

NEVER GIVE OUT FINANCIAL INFORMATION (bank account number, social security number, eBay/PayPal info, etc.)

AVOID DEALS INVOLVING SHIPPING OR ESCROW SERVICES and know that ONLY A SCAMMER WILL "GUARANTEE" YOUR TRANSACTION.

Who should I notify about fraud or scam attempts?

FTC toll free hotline: 877-FTC-HELP (877-382-4357)

FTC online complaint form (http://www.ftc.gov)

YOU SHOULD REPORT THIS MATTER TO PREVENT OTHER PEOPLE FROM FALLING INTO THIS TRAP!!!
