How do I find the laws for back yard chickens by zip code or county? I can't find the laws for my city for owning and keeping a pet chicken in the back yard? All I can find are major cities, where can I find out by zip code or county the laws? I want to set up a chicken coop in the back yard of my house on my property just to be clear I'm not asking about the back yard of an apartment or something where the land and property isn't owned by me lol.
Also any must know things about raising a chick to chicken as far as the must have products for it's whole life cycle if you want.
Thanks ahead of time!Attention all pet chicken owners please answer?
Your land falls within a city or township--what you do is contact the city clerk about animal ordinances, they'll update you on what's allowed for your property. Sometimes animal control can help you too, since they're the ones that go confiscate animals improperly kept.
With chickens it's usually noise and sanitation issues, so there will be something on the books.Attention all pet chicken owners please answer?
You could ask your neighbors or you could try look it up online, that's what i did. And you should be fine im mean if you own the house you should be able to get any animal you want, but roosters can be bothersome to others, and can be a problem. But as for caring for them as a baby, you will need a heat lamp, some shavings, a couple toys (take out when older) a feeder with a cap so they can only put their heads in (they like to push their food out and poop in it which is not so healthy) And you have to keep them in a big bin inside or in the garage. Once they have wings and they start getting tail feathers show them the outdoors (only if its sunny and warm) And let them rome then put them back, and once their fuzz start to come off and their feather come in only use lamp at night, then as they grow take it away, once they are fully feather they can stay outside, but watch out for cats, and hawks! I got 8 chicks because the store keeper said there a 70% chance they'll die, i did this little routine and now i am stuck with 8 chickens, so you shouldnt have any problems with them dieing. Hope i helped! P.S sorry i couldn't be too big on helping you know about if you can have chicks or not.
